Year End Closure 2006

Ok, lets' see what were my resolutions for this year when I wrote closure post last year today here

I wanted to lose weight and I did. Not yet the ideal weight I want to achive but trust me, I will get there.

I wanted to start learning driving. I never got around srarting it so that's gonna get pushed to 2007.

Wanted to drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. With my new job, I would be lucky if I got any chance to drink any water at all!!

2006 has been a year with LOTS of ups and downs for me. I have grown tremendously over the year both emotionally and mentally. Lots of valuable lessons that I learnt and I am so much more independent now in so many ways. Not sure if that's entirely a good thing though.

Career is taking off well for me, friends are great and family is well. Though there may be other aspects in my life which isn't taking off the way I would want it to be, I guess I am fortunate in my own way too. We can't possibly have our cake and eat it too all the time yeah?

2006 has been a dark year for me in certain ways. Hopefully the new year will bring some sunshine in and shed some light on things which seems so blurry to me.

All of you out there who have been in my life, thank you.

Finally......

I finally found the very design I have been searching for all this while. It was definitely love at first sight for me. Been searching so long for a design I feel comfortable with, which I like and will not go out of style. I found it.

I have always wanted something with "wings". In a shape of that form. My search brought me a butterfly. A tribal butterfly.

Butterflies represents certain traits in me which I want to exhibit. The meaning within it I embrace.

- Butterflies are unique, no 2 share the same characteristics and colours. I am unique in my own peculiar way.
- They are feminine. So am I.
- They represent the fragility of life. I am fragile in the most unoticed manner.
- But yet you cannot kill it by just touching it's wings. I am strong against all odds.
- The course of life of a butterfly starts from an egg to a caterpillar, cocoon and finally into a butterfly. My life story.

I am happy. I just hope you'll be happy for me too.

Simple Pleasures & Greatest Treasures

What more can I say. I love them both so much it's overwhelming.

I know this is going to sound cliche, but nothing beats seeing your kids after a long day at work. Except maybe a tub of Haagen-Dazs ice-cream while watching CSI.

They are probably the only source of light and sunshine in my otherwise dark life. Nothing else matters as much to me now, unfortunately.

Was supposed to bring them to zoo on Sunday, but it rained the whole day!!! Yun Yi was so dissapointed and so was my 2 nieces. Hopefully the weather turns for the better and we can go for the outing before school opens.

All Grown Up

My little boy is all grown up and oooohhhh sooo cute!! Simply irresistable!!!

As of today, the cute little stuff he does:
1) Crawls in record breaking speed when he hears activity in the kitchen. Sound = Food
2) Complains and cries whenever we don't give him what he wants
3) Pushes the stool to the TV rack and climbs onto the stool to try to climb onto the TV rack
4) Points with his index finger to things he's "referring" to and makes a high pitched sound "nngg"
5) Able to walk about 20 steps unassisted
6) Holds his own bottle when drining milk/water
7) Loves to hold his own food when eating finger food
8) Laughs and smile ALOT
9) Makes sounds that resembles "cher cher" and goes "mamum" thus not sure if he's hinting that he wants "mum mum" or attempting to call "mummy"
10) Climbs into his bathtub automatically when it's bathing time and sit inside waiting while the tub is being filled. (with supervision of course!!)
11) Falls backwards on the bed when we go "timber......."
12) Ask him "hello how??" and he will hold the telephone/handphone/toy handphone to his ear and goes "aahhhh"
13) Waves bye bye
14) Claps his hands when he sees people doing so in the TV and when you tell him he's a clever boy. But when he walks a long distance, he will clap for himself too!!
15) Climbs up the sofa unassisted
16) But loves to climb down from the back of the sofa!!!

Improvement

Went prawn fishing again yesterday. Wanted to try out the Pasir Ris one but it was too crowded when we got there, so it's off hte Marina South.

I am just oh so good at this. After learning from my first experience and getting some tips from my colleagues, this time I did so much better!!



I lost count of how many I caught!! Estimated weight is about a total of 2kg or so. I am getting hooked to this!!



And oh yes, being the ever resourceful Celine I am, I not only caught prawns!! There were those little fiches in the pond and I managed to catch one of those!! Not that I wanted to though..... Anyway, we released it back into the pond.

I want to go AGAIN!!!! When when??

Shameless Peeps

The latest conquests from that machine I was talking about previously. Anyway, this is not the main thing I wanna talk about.

With every toy won, there was actually a scratch card attached to it and upon scratching, an alphabet will be revealed together with additional prize you have won (prizes range from one free credit to a bonus prize). If you manage to collect 11 cards to make up the words VIRTUAL LAND, you'll get a sure win spin with prizes up to 100 free credits. Knowing me, I wouldn't be bothered to keep the cards as I enjoy the process of getting the toy but not the spinning thing.

So, there were SOOOO many people hanging around there just eyeing your scratch cards. The moment your prize is collected and the scratching begins, people start crowding all around you just to see if you've got the alphabet which they're short of. And these people will shamelessly ask if you actually collect these cards and if the answer is no, they will ask you to give it to them!!

The first card I got was actually given away to this nice guy who asked politely from me. But the second time I got the scratch card (which is a letter V by the way) on a very crowded Saturday night, the first person who asked for it was a 20+ year old guy who wasn't a local. Anyway, those who know me well enough, you should know where this person is from and how I do not like them. So naturally, I told him cannot give him the "V" scratch card for free. Anyway, I won a bonus prize from it so I proceeded to the counter to collect it, the employee there told me the letter "V" was a rare alphabet which everyone was trying to get their hands on because it's limited in quantity so advised me NOT to just give it to anyone!! Besides, the promotion is coming to an end, so they are no longer issuing new scratch cards anymore. My first thought was "Wah..... so heng ah??!?!?!"

Because I had rejected the guy's request, I just left the place with the scratch card still inside my bag. Until the following week on a weeknight, we went to Suntec once again to get the matching baby mickey star pillow. Upon finally getting it, this girl came over to me to ask what alphabet I got and I told her I had a letter "T". So she asked if I could give it to her, so I said "This one can". Curious, she asked if I had others as well, so I told her about the rare "V" which I have in my bag. She didn't understand why I didn't want to give her the "V" as well since I do not collect the cards anyway!! At this point of time, her butch friend came over and started to join the conversation..........


The girl continued her pestering and it came to a point where she offered to buy it from me. She offered to buy and not the other way around where I offered to sell it to her. So I told her $30 because that was the cost I used to get the "V". She claimed that it was too expensive and if she had spent the same amount of money, she would get the prize plus a scratch card as well. And there are otheres selling it online for $10 so she's only prepared to pay $10 for it. So I told her, go ahead then why bother to pester me for the card?? After like 10 minutes of accusing me of being selfish because I refused to give it to her since I didn't need it and pricing it at $20 (I finally relented and dropped the price), the butch spoke up.

"Aiyah, why bother begging from this kind of selfich people? Not even willing to give it away when she doesn't even want it" Upon hearing that, I turned and walked away.

I was sooooooooooo pissed lor!!! Hello!!!! You are the one who wants it so badly, you are the one who offered to buy it from me and you are the one who's being so cheapskate to go around collecting these cards without investing any money yourself!!!

Yes, although I don't need the card, does that mean that I MUST give it to you FOC?? You want to buy it from me, I named a price if you are not comfortable with it so forget it. What's the problem with these people??? So what if I want to sell it away instead of giving it away? Not a crime isn't it? I am not the one that's desperate for it, you are!! If it's available from the net, go buy lah since it's so cheap. Why waste your time haggling with me? If it's so easy to get a scratch card with a "V", go try yourself lah, why try so hard?? Do I look like a charitable organisation to you?

Conclusion.......... I kept the "V" card and the promotion is over. I didn't sell it away cos I couldn't even be bothered to do so. $10 is better than nothing?? I don't think so!! I am happier hanging on to it and knowing that that bitch and butch wasn't able to get what they wanted.



And this............. was what all that BIG hooha all about. Stupid.

The Spread

I am so behind with my posts that this post and the few coming up were all meant to be bloged about last month. Anyway, better late than never right?

Was at a girlfriend's place sometime LAST MONTH for a girls only gathering. For the first time in all these years I've known her, she's cooking for us. I mean really cooking and not the idiot proof steamboat thingy which I love to host. But of course, with the help of her ever so cute mama.



We had pasta with tomato sauce and cream sauce, portobello mushrooms, meatballs, fried chicken wings, salad, corn, nachos with avocado and of course red wine. I was impressed, really impressed. What a spread coming from someone who almost never lifts a finger in the kitchen!! Next time it's my turn yeah?? But we'll have steamboat, idiot proof!!

But before that, we're supposed to have a Christmas party at a guy friend's place come this Christmas eve. Gift exchange, food, wine, games and lots of great friends. Just the way the festive period should be. Looking forward to it.

The Old & The New

Old friends and new experiences I meant.

Went to the D&D of my ex (company) on Friday. Everything felt the same but yet so different. Saw lots of familiar faces, great friends and good (not so good included) bosses. But the feeling is entirely different from before. Besides the fact that I felt like a sore thumb amongst all the staff there, I was already officially an outsider. No longer in the midst of all the latest gossip, knowing glances and sharing the highs and the lows of meeting/not meeting targets.

No doubt, I miss the goold old days. But hey, I am going through new experiences in my life as well. New and exciting I must say but not necessarily in the good way!! Anyway, it was great catch up time for me and thanks for having me there.

Went prawn fishing after the D&D thing at Jurong. First time for me and I was so excited about it. Four of us went including myself and 2 rods and 3 hours later, we caught a grande total of 6 prawns!!! Pathetic, yes I know. But hey, first time mah!!!

While we were there, there was this couple who caught like a whole basket of prawns. They would have a bite like every 10 minutes or so. But they used their own rods and baits ah....... I think the length of the hook doesn't end where the prawns are feeding if we use the rods provided, thus making it difficult for people like us catch a whole lot of prawns. The place actually provides cockles as baits FOC but I want to know what the couple is using!!!

What other stuff can we use as baits?? Anyone has any tips to share? Let me know yeah? Cos me going again this Saturday!!!

I Am So Tired

Yes yes. I haven't been blogging for the longest time and I am missing it.
