Farewell Dinner

Went for my farewell dinner with colleagues (now ex) on Friday evening.

We left for the restaurant directly from the office. Look at my empty desk which will be replaced by someone else soon......

We arrived at the courtyard of CHJIMES. I love this place cos it has this nostalgic feel but with the modern twist. Very nice and special feeling.

This was the brazilian restaurant we went. Carnivore. Everything except the salad is meat. don't say I didn't warn you.

First of all, get seated. Order drinks. They'll ask if you want still water or sparkling. Still water is poured out from an evian bottle. Not sure if it's charged because I didn't see the bill.

Cheese bread is served once you are seaed.

You help yourself with the salad.

Cheers to a better tomorrow!!

You flip your card according to whether you still want any food. If the red side is shown, the chef will not ask yu if you'd like any of what he's offering.

And the food starts coming. Non-stop!!! It's a buffet, so eat all you can. They have different parts of the chicken, chicken heart, pork.......

Many different kinds of beef.............

Even pineapples and garlic bread on skewers!!!

The food was overall ok even though a tad salty. But very meaty thereofr eyou get tired of is pretty soon. Go earlier before 7pm and save $10 from the usual price.

And yes, they made me say my farewell speech and I cried. Sob sob......

Last Day

It's my last day of service today. Sob sob......

I've been with this company for 4+ years and it has been an excellent and rewarding journey for me. Good company, good pay and good colleagues. My desk is empty now and it feels so cold and strange. I leave with a heavy heart, really.

I have been given alot of opportunities to grow and learn. I completed my Diploma here as well with subsidy. And most importantly, I found something I really love to do here as well. I got to know lots of great people both internally as well as externally. The chance to work with many different people from diversed backgrounds and suppliers from different companies opened up my eyes.

That said, I look forward to a new challenge in my new place. New colleagues to get to know, new relationships to build, new environment to get used to and new food to eat!!! No more miserable canteen. But if the opportunity arises a few years down the road, I would love to come back.

And my department colleagues (3 of them only lah, department sounds like a very big team) bought me a farewell gift! So sweet of them. Thank you so much guys. I love it.

I will really miss this place. Just don't make me say farewell speeches, I'll cry.

Ladies Nite

Went drinking with Eileen and Jo-Ann on Wednesday after work. It was kind of a farewell for us as I would be gone from next week and Eileen will leave in July and Jo-Ann will be going for her trip in July as well. So we won't be seeing each other on a daily basis any longer.

Went to pepper lunch for dinner at Taka.

Menu board. Not plenty of choices, but good enough for me.

You order and pay at the counter, take your drinks and a number plate. Wait.

My very delicious double hamburger steak set. $13.80 with either a soup or a drink.

Jo-Ann and Eileen both had this double chicken steak set. $13.80 as well.

We went to O Bar for ladies night after dinner. Free flow of housepours all night long from 9pm. Learnt something..........pace out your drinks!!!

JB Makan

Went to JB for dinner/supper with Kerry and Lena yesterday night. Not much of a jam when we were going in but was stuck in the jam for about 30 minutes when we were coming back.

This was the hawker centre that we went to.

Rows and rows of food!!! Cheap and yummy food!! I am getting excited at this point of time.

The BBQ stall which we ordered from. Everything looks so fresh!!!

Ahhhh... we had 4 yummy dishes. BBQ stingray, sambal kangkong, sambal lala (my all time favourite) and sambal sotong. Only cost us RM34 for these 4.

Ah... and the very cute wanton soup. Why cute ah? Because the wanton is so very small!! It's only about half the size of a "standard" wanton in Singapore. And the soup was filled with it!! RM4 leh... not that cheap but for that amount of small wantons given, they're forgiven.

I was totally craving for the Malaysian style hokkien noodles and thus we ordered a plate of it. It was a HUGE dissapointment. Probably because they didn't had lard in it, so somehow something was lacking. That being said, the whole plate was polished off. And 4 medium cups of sugarcane juice to wash it all down. You should look at their large, it's really LARGE!!!

Aye.. thought that was the end right?? No!!! We were so utterly unsatisfied witht he fried hokkien noodles that we decided to go to another place for the noodles (which we tried before the last time). But the place was closed, so no choice, went to another place to satisfy our cravings. And this is it. 2 huge ass plates of noodles. Hokkien noodles AND fried tang hoon. So sinful because I could taste the lard in every mouthful of the black noodles. But oh so satisfying!!!

Prata Prata

Went to this place at Casuarina Road yesterday night for supper. Someone introduced this prata place to hubby so here we are.

This was a parting shot but the place was packed both inside and outside when I arrived. It's actually tucked away from view from the main road, but you know lah, nothing stops Singaporeans from good food.

Yep, this is the name of the store. Casuarina Curry located @ Casuarina Road!!! Duh.....

Hubby had 1 egg prata and 1 kosong prata. Boring......

Ahhh, me different. 1 paper prata and 1 plaster prata. Yummy!!! I am not so much a prata person so it's good enough for me. But hubby feels that Jln Kayu prata is probably better. I wouldn't know cos I haven't tried Jln Kayu prata before leh.

Ahh, this one must mention. Mutton soup!!! It's been such a looooong time since I had it and this one is simply marvelicious. It doesn't have the smelly taste and the meat is cooked to perfect tenderness. And the soup and peppery and flavourful. Definitely a must try.......

And my favourite part of the meal?? My very delicious Milo Dinosaur!!! Hubby as usual ordered the boring teh tarik. The person who came up with this dinosaur thingy is such a genius!! Wahahahaha..... he's probably just like us who used to use a spoon and dig into the milo can and ate the milo powder straight from source. Then it suddenly hit him that he should just scoop onto the drink and sell it at a realy high price.

Anyway, the meal was utterly satisfying. If hubby still doesn't gain any weight at this rate we're eating, I really got no ideas liao. Notice I mentioned we?? Yeah lah, he eat I also eat leh!! He doesn't gain a single kilo from all that food but I am. So next time we go makan, I will just pick from his food and not order my own share. Let's see how well I can stick to this.

Milestone - First Crawl

Little Yong Ye has mastered the art of crawling!! He now moves around the house with a leopard crawl style at a speed of probably 1km/hr!!!

He started going around in circles last week and the maid has been trying to make him crawl towards his favourite toys. Yesterday he was still inching his way around but today when I came back from work, he graduated!! Crawled from room to room and even tried to get to the feng shui water feature while the maid was getting Yun Yi her dinner.

That's how parents are. We get excited over the small little accomplishments our children achieve. Even if it's the second time around for me.

Comfort Food

Am feeling hungry on this cold and rainy afternoon. Made myself a cup of hot milo and paired it with Hup Seng Ping Pong biscuits. Absolutely yummy and comforting.

This thing about "soda" biscuit is just so addictive. You know when you dunk it into the hot milo and it gets soaked through and turn soft. It would just melt in your mouth. Anytime better than Oreos dunked into milk.

Oh So Busy...........

I have tendered my resignation and am now serving my notice. Another 2 weeks plus to go and I have put on weight because of all the farewell lunches I have been going.

It's never easy to change to a new job and a whole new environment. New location, new colleagues and new working hours. Of course, there is the new salary as well. No one likes moving out of their comfort zone and venture into the unknown. But such moves are unavoidable in life and no risk no returns.

And not to mention I have awhole lot of stuff to clear from my place. I once joked that I probably need one whole month to clear my desk should I leave the company and now I have less than 3 weeks to do so!!! Arrghhh......!!!!!!!

Did I mention previously that I watched The Da Vinci Code and X-Men III? No? Hubby fell asleep at the latter yesterday night even though the show was alot shorter than The Da Vinci Code. For me, I enjoyed both shows for different reasons. Da Vinci was slow with loads of talking and required me to pay full attention to it in order to understand what the show was all about. I read the book only after watching the show and personally feel that the book was better and thus for those who did not read the book, my advise is to read it before watching the show.

X-Men III was exciting and fun. All that superpowers never fail to entertain me. I am not a X-Men comic fan so I was thoroughly in love with the movie!!! Pheonix was absolutely cool and I loved her red hair in the movie. And of course, Logan is oh so hot!!!!

Had been playing Mahjong rather frequently for the past 1-2 weeks because Lena was so free from shaking legs at home while waiting to start on her new job. Win a little today, lose a little tomorrow. Nett nett, machiam no difference leh!!! Waste time!!! Wahahahaha......
